GRULAC Junior annual meeting

Each year youth from across Latin America and the Caribbean come together to discuss the biggest challenges in their region. The end result is a proposal that is shared with governmental and regional leaders of all levels. The hope is that the voices of our youth will be considered in future decision-making.

This year, there will be both virtual and in-person opportunities and we will be joined by Dr. Olaf Kulke who will share his climate visualization and human geography project, Our People Our Climate. There will also be hands-on work shops and activities.

Eco-innovation as a path to Sustainable Development

Speaker: Dr. Balakrisha Pisupati, United Nations Environment Program

Dr. Balakrishna Pisupati is an internationally renowned conservation and development specialist and Chief of Biodiver sity, Land Law and Governance programs at United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). He advises countries on conservation and development policy and serves as an advisor to international bodies.
Can business solutions and entrepreneurial ideas be used for tackling environmental challenges? Can we implement a new vision and policies that both encourage innovation and reduce negative environmental impacts? What is the circular economy? What are the environmental indicators we should be considering as we develop new ideas?

This talk is presented in conjunction with the Cerebro Creativo series of events, all to support the Global Call for Creative Ideas.

Special guests will include this year’s GRULAC Junior presidents who will present their proposals to UNEP.
